Imagine a couple.
A successful, generous, sensitive and
kind couple. A couple utterly in love with a beautiful home, picture book garden
and flawless children. A couple so perfect that all other couples pale into
insignificance in comparison.
Meet Richard and Anthea, the perfect
couple...
This autumn, York Settlement Community Players return with a
fresh and exciting new production of Alan Ayckbourn’s 1978 hit comedy, ‘Joking
Apart,’ with a world where couples compete, confusion is constant and tennis
balls zip from left to right.
Don’t miss this hilarious garden comedy
performed in the round at York’s premiere fringe venue by one of York’s oldest
and greatest amateur groups. Directed by upcoming young director Sam Freeman
(‘Revenge’, York Theatre Royal), ‘Joking Apart’ promises to be a 12 year
roller-coaster ride of drama and laugh out loud comedy!
Alan Ayckbourn is
one of the UK and the world’s most performed and most loved playwrights. His
many plays include classics such as Bedroom Farce, A Small Family Business and
Way Upstream and have been performed everywhere from the National Theatre to
Australia.
